Terms of Use

Effective date: September 22, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Taurent IT Services LLC ("Taurent," "we," or "us"). They cover your use of the Maine Needs request application (the "Application"). Taurent builds and operates the Application for Maine Needs, a Maine nonprofit. Maine Needs uses it to receive and fill requests for donated goods.

By creating an account or using the Application, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the Application.

1. Who can use the Application

You may use the Application only if all of the following are true:

  • You are 18 or older.
  • You work or volunteer for Maine Needs, or for a school, agency, or other organization that Maine Needs has approved as a partner.
  • Your organization has authorized you to request goods on behalf of the people it serves.
  • Maine Needs has approved your account.

Maine Needs decides who gets an account and may deactivate an account at any time.

2. Your account

  • Give accurate information when you create your account, and keep it current.
  • Your account is for you alone. Do not share your login or let anyone else use it.
  • Keep your sign-in codes and links private.
  • Tell Maine Needs right away if you think someone else has used your account, or if you leave your organization.
  • Until you report a problem, activity through your account is treated as yours.

3. What the Application is for

Use the Application only to submit and manage requests for donated goods for people your organization serves, and to communicate with Maine Needs about those requests. Submit a request only when there is a genuine need for a person or household you are working with.

4. Do not enter personal information about the people you serve

The Application is not built to store information that identifies the people who receive goods. Do not enter any of the following about a recipient, in any field, including notes and comments:

  • Names, initials, or nicknames
  • Home or work addresses
  • Phone numbers or email addresses
  • Exact dates of birth
  • Social Security, case, client, or other ID numbers
  • Detailed information on health, immigration, criminal history, or domestic violence
  • Photos
  • Anything else that could reasonably identify a specific person

You may enter the details Maine Needs needs to fill the request, such as item types, quantities, clothing and shoe sizes, ages, and gender.

If you enter identifying information by mistake, contact your Maine Needs administrator so it can be removed. Maine Needs or the Application's administrators may delete requests that include recipient information.

Your own name, email, organization, and job title are part of your account and are covered by the Privacy Policy.

5. Other rules

When you use the Application, do not:

  • Use the Application for anything unlawful, or in a way that harms Maine Needs, Taurent, or others.
  • Submit false or misleading requests.
  • Try to access accounts, data, or systems you are not authorized to use.
  • Copy, scrape, or bulk download data from the Application.
  • Probe, scan, or test the Application for weaknesses, or interfere with its operation.
  • Reverse engineer the Application or use it to build a competing product.
  • Upload malicious code.
  • Remove any copyright or other notice.

6. Maine Needs' role

Maine Needs administers the Application. Maine Needs staff can see your account information and every request you submit. Maine Needs decides whether and how to fill requests, and its own policies apply to those decisions. Taurent does not decide which requests are filled.

7. Ownership

Taurent owns the Application, including its code, design, and any improvements to it. Maine Needs owns the data submitted through the Application. Under these terms you have permission to use the Application for the purposes described here. That permission can be withdrawn, and it does not give you any ownership interest in the Application itself.

If you send us an idea or suggestion for the Application, we may use it without payment or other obligation to you.

8. Availability and changes

We work to keep the Application available and working, but we do not promise it will be available at all times or free of errors. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Application. We may also suspend or end your access if you do not follow these terms, if Maine Needs asks us to, or to protect the Application or its users.

9. Disclaimer and limits on liability

THE APPLICATION IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS.

Taurent is not responsible for any decision Maine Needs makes about a request, or for goods that are or are not provided.

TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, TAURENT IS NOT LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST DATA, ARISING OUT OF THE APPLICATION OR THESE TERMS. TAURENT'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE APPLICATION OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100). Some states do not allow certain limits, so some of these limits may not apply to you.

10. Ending these terms

You can stop using the Application at any time. Ask your Maine Needs administrator to deactivate your account. Sections 4, 7, 9, and 11 continue to apply after your access ends.

11. Governing law

Maine law governs these terms, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute must be brought in the state or federal courts in Cumberland County, Maine, and you agree to their jurisdiction.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If we make a material change, we will notify Maine Needs in advance and post the new terms in the Application with a new effective date. You may need to accept the updated terms to keep using the Application. Using it after the effective date means you accept the changes.
